Welcome to St. Ethelbert’s Catholic Primary School. We are very pleased to have this opportunity to welcome you to the school website and the Christian values under which our school flourishes.

The primary school journey is a very important step in the life of any child and their family. At St. Ethelbert’s we will make your child’s time here – happy, rewarding and creative.

As parents, you naturally want the very best for your child and we take that responsibility seriously. We have the highest expectations of all our children and staff. We are naturally extremely proud of the children’s achievements, effort, attitudes and the happy atmosphere that they nurture and create. Everyone at St. Ethelbert’s is special and is valued for the contribution that they make to the life of the school as well as the work that they do as individuals.

We have a very caring and committed staff who are always available to answer questions and discuss matters as they arise.

Above all, we believe that for education to be successful there needs to be a real partnership and mutual support between parents and school and we count on your co-operation in achieving this aim.

Introduction to our new Executive Headteacher.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to you further to my letter at the end of the last term. As you know, The Governors of St Ethelbert’s have been looking at another school to request that their experienced headteacher would support us through this academic year. I am delighted to be able to inform you that The Governors of Whitstable and Seasalter Endowed Church of England (Aided) Junior School were also delighted to support our request and allow their headteacher, Mrs Ellen Butcher, to support us this academic year. At the recent Ofsted Inspection of the Endowed school, Mrs. Butcher was recognised as an outstanding leader and the school as an outstanding school with strong leadership in all areas.

Mrs. Butcher herself is local to St Ethelbert’s attended the school as a child and has family ties with her own children and nieces also having been through the school. The family also attends St Ethelbert’s parish church. Many of you I believe will already know her.

This Executive Headteacher role will begin on Monday 10th September with Mrs. Butcher sharing her time equally between the Endowed and St Ethelbert’s. Please be rest assured that St Ethelbert’s will benefit from this relationship through opportunities to share good practice and further develop teaching and learning.

Mrs. Butcher has always had an open-door policy and would love to extend that to St Ethelbert’s, so please do contact her by email or make an appointment to see her. Having an open and honest relationship with parents and carers is in the very best interests of your child.
Mrs. Butcher will be at St Ethelbert’s all day this Wednesday and in the playgrounds before and after school to meet parents, please do take this opportunity to say hello.

Mrs. Lockwood, Deputy Headteacher, will be working with Mrs. Butcher to ensure the highest standards of teaching and learning are always maintained and to continue St Ethelbert’s journey to Outstanding.

The Governors have every confidence that Mrs. Butcher, Mrs. Lockwood, and all the staff will continue to support your child and you in every possible way and that St Ethelbert’s will continue to go from strength to strength.

Yours Sincerely,

Mrs. C. Turner, Chair of Governors.
